Hydrogen Fuel Cell Demonstration Project
The hydrogen fuel cell demonstration project is a five-year program running until 2014. Managed by BC Transit, this project will test the operational viability of the buses, as the worlds largest hydrogen fuel cell fleet operating in a single location. The total budget of the demonstration project is $89.5 million, covering capital and operating costs to March 2014.
The hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet produces no greenhouse gas emissions at the tailpipe and will help the province reach its goal of lowering GHG emissions by 33 per cent by 2020.
