Transit Future Action Plan in Central Fraser Valley

In 2013, the Abbotsford-Mission Transit Future Plan was completed. This plan provided a vision of the region’s transit network over the next 25 years. Since the adoption of that plan, some of the major projects identified have now been accomplished, including:

  • Route 66 FVX: Introduction of the 66 FVX (Fraser Valley Express) service, connecting Abbotsford to Langley and Chilliwack
  • McCallum Park and Ride: Introduction of the region’s first Park and Ride, at Abbotsford’s McCallum Interchange

As the region continues to grow and the land use changes, it is important to update the project priorities to ensure that transit continues to be a popular mod of choice in the region.

The purpose of the Abbotsford-Mission Transit Future Action Plan is to update transit service and infrastructure recommendations to continue to grow the transit system in the region. This plan is particularly intended to support transit changes in the next three years (2018-2020) that will make the transit system in the Central Fraser Valley more fast, frequent and reliable in the areas where transit can be most successful.

Why do we need Transit Future?

Transit Future guides transit investment that is supportive of livable communities, through:

  •     Offering more transportation choice
  •     Supporting smart land use plans that focus on walking, cycling and transit
  •     Meeting climate change goals
  •     Making it easy to access everyday services on foot, by bike and by transit

Help us Plan Your Future

Population and traffic growth means we need to shift our focus from moving cars to moving people. To minimize the high economic, environmental and social costs of traffic congestion and road expansion, we must move people more efficiently. Transportation should take us where we want to go, when we want to go there. To create an efficient system, we need your input.

How do I get involved?

All stages of the creation and implementation of a Transit Future Plan provide opportunities to get involved. Check back here often for information on how to share your input!

Moving Forward with Technology
