Campbell River Maintenance and Operations Facility Project

BC Transit is working with the Government of Canada, Province of BC and the City of Campbell River to create a new maintenance and operations facility for the Campbell River Transit System.

Construction is currently underway at 1235 Evergreen Road (corner of Evergreen Road and Elk River Timber Road). Since 2000, ridership in Campbell River has risen over 91 per cent and this new facility will help support the increasing popularity of sustainable public transportation in the region.

The new BC Transit facility will be the site for all transit activity in Campbell River, with parking for up to 50 buses, three maintenance bays, administration offices and facilities for onsite bus washing and fueling. We will also incorporate sustainable building design to support greenhouse gas reduction targets, provide operational efficiencies and accommodate future Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses in the future.

The project represents a $15 million commitment in Campbell River transit and will position the city to meet future demands for transportation in the region. The new facility is part of the almost $160 million in federal and provincial funding for BC Transit projects that was first announced in June 2016 as part of the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.

The project is expected to be completed in the winter of 2019.
