Fully Compressed Natural Gas Powered Conventional Fleet in Kamloops Creates Jobs and a Greener Future for British Columbians

Kamloops – The delivery of 19 New Flyer buses this winter means that the City of Kamloops will boast a fully Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered conventional fleet. CNG-fuelled buses reduce operating costs for BC Transit and for Kamloops as the fuel is less expensive and has a smaller carbon footprint compared to traditional transit vehicles.

Kamloops service expansion planning moving forward

Kamloops – BC Transit is moving forward with planning for the addition of 3,000 service hours in Kamloops, following public consultation in the fall of 2016. The expansion hours are funded in partnership by the City of Kamloops, the Province of BC and BC Transit.

Corporate – BC Transit is beginning a request for proposal (RFP) process to introduce Real Time, automatic vehicle location (AVL) enabled technology on buses in seven transit communities, including Kamloops, Nanaimo, Comox Valley, Squamish, Whistler, Kelowna and Victoria.  BC Transit aims to introduce the customer-facing features of the Real Time technology in 2018.
