Seasonal spring service changes are in the air
Victoria — Spring is finally here and along with it comes seasonal service changes taking effect in the Victoria Regional Transit System on April 8, 2019.
The seasonal service change includes service level adjustments on school oriented routes, a minor route change and construction detours.
BC Transit works hard to match service with demand, adjusting service levels when post-secondary schools are not in session, allowing for more service during the school year when ridership demand is higher. Regular spring service adjustments include reduced service on school-oriented routes along with the seasonal cancellation of the 16 UVic/Uptown and 76 UVic/Swartz Bay. These routes will resume regular service in September when school is back in session.
The 75 Saanichton/Royal Oak/Downtown will see service improvements on Saturdays and Sundays, to meet increased passenger demand at Butchart Gardens.
The 4 UVic/Downtown is being permanently re-routed in response to a change in the road network at Douglas and Humboldt.
With upcoming construction on the Point Ellice/Bay Street Bridge, the 14 Vic General/UVic will be on detour. Detouring the 14 Vic General/UVic has an impact to the scheduling of the route and was required to be integrated into the spring schedules. As a result, the route will be detoured effective April 8, 2019, prior to construction start-date. The route 10 James Bay/Royal Jubilee will be detoured when construction begins later this spring.
